Reading Camp

To inculcate reading habit among the school children and to teach information literacy skills, Library launched a “Reading Camp” at WP/PIL/Bodhiraja Vidyalaya – a primary school located near University of Moratuwa. There are about 70 children studying in this primary school.

“Reading Camp” is conducted every Wednesdays at Bodhiraja Vidyalaya by members of the Library staff.

Into Nature - 1st Session

READING CAMP13Objective of the "Into the Nature" session is to create awareness about the environment among students of Grade four and five. Mrs. Chandani Kalupahana tried to create an awareness about endemic mammals, reptiles, amphibians and butterflies. Mrs, Ganga Godakanda, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Manjula Jayathilaka provided the technical assistance.

Let’s Learn Tamil

let's learn TamilTamil is one of the official languages used in multi-national, multi-cultural society in Sri Lanka. Motivating school children to learn Tamil would help them to understand language, culture, heritage etc. of Tamil community. As a reading camp activity, Staff of Library, University of Moratuwa started to facilitate teaching Tamil Language for Grade Two and Three students. From 21st January, 2014, Mr. Melro Mendis, Mr. Roshan Fernando, Miss Lilanthi Vithanage and Mrs. Nayomi Sithari are conducting “Let’s Learn Tamil” programme.

Language Learning with Colours – 5th Session

LANGUAGE LEARNING WITH COLOURS - 5Crepe paper artwork was used for ‘Language Learning’ on Wednesday, 20th November, 2013. Mr. Thushara Bandaranayaka conducted 5th session on “Language Learning with Colours” for Grade 1 and 2 students using different colours of crepe paper. Mr. Roshan Fernando and Miss. Lilanthi Vithanage provided the technical assistance.
