Reaching Technical Students

Information literacy is the foundation for lifelong learning. It is common to all disciplines, to all learning environments, and to all levels of education. Students passing out from technical institutes are seen as tomorrow’s workers and have to be information literate and such persons become valuable assets to any employer.

The Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) is the foremost institute in Sri Lanka for the training of skilled technicians in the field of Automobile Engineering and allied trades.” CGTTI conducts fulltime courses such as Automobile Mechanic, Millwright Fitter, Electrician (Maintenance), Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Machinist (General), Diesel Mechanic, Electrician (Automobile),Welder and Motor Vehicle Body Repair & Painter

Identifying the opportunities available in enhancing information literacy skills in technical students, Library, University of Moratuwa launched "Reaching technical students" - a information literacy programme for youth attached to Ceylon – German Technical Training Institute, Moratuwa.
