Child Development Programme

To fulfill the educational needs of preschool children using modern technology and to enhance their skills and talents, Library launched “Child Development Programme“ in Sumudu Preschool at University of Moratuwa as first outreach activity. There are 18 kids currently following their preschool education in Sumudu Preschool.

Child Development Programme is conducted every Tuesdays and Fridays in the preschool by members of the Library staff.

Once a upon a Time

ONCE UPON A TIME - SAROMrs. Sarojini Kumarasighe narrated the story “Three Little Pigs” to kids on 1st November, 2013. Mrs. Sarojini Kumarasinghe while accompanying the video “Three Little Pigs” by Walt Disney in Silly Symphony series made a fun-filled session. Technical assistance was provided by Mr. Melro Mendis, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Chamara Herath.

Go on the Stage

GO ON THE STAGE“දොම්පෙට යන පාර කොයිබදෝ“ is a famous folk-drama in Sri Lanka. To entertain as well as to educate the kids on folk-lore, Library staff performed “දොම්පෙට යන පාර කොයිබදෝ“ on Friday, 25th October 2013 in Sumudu Preschool.  Mrs. Indrani Jayalath directed the folk drama while Mr. T.A. Sunil, Mrs. Devika Talawatta, Mrs. Indrani Jayalath, Miss D.G.R. Tharanga and Mr. Eranga Wickrama were cast in the play. Music  by  Mr. Anura Kiriella  and Mrs. Sarojini Kumarasinghe. Technical assistance by Mr. Melro Shamendra, Mr. Roshan Fernando, Mrs. Indu Malalgoda, Mr. Thushara Bandaranayaka Mr. Manjula  Jayatilaka and Mr. Sameera Perera.

ONCE UPON A TIMEThrough storytelling, kids are given an opportunity to experience exciting journeys into the unknown places, people and things. Mr. Nishan Punchihewa was the first to narrate a story to preschool kids. On 11th October, 2013 he narrated the folktale “ගමරාලයි යක්කුයි” adopted by Prof. J.B. Dissanayake. Technical assistance was provided by Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Chamara Herath.
