Child Development Programme

To fulfill the educational needs of preschool children using modern technology and to enhance their skills and talents, Library launched “Child Development Programme“ in Sumudu Preschool at University of Moratuwa as first outreach activity. There are 18 kids currently following their preschool education in Sumudu Preschool.

Child Development Programme is conducted every Tuesdays and Fridays in the preschool by members of the Library staff.

Handy Handwork – Hands for Trees

Handy HandworkFirst session on ‘Handy Handwork’ was conducted on Friday, 22nd  November, 2013. To improve creative thinking as well skills in handwork, Mrs. Indu Malalgoda, Mrs. Nayomi Sithari and Ms. Chethani Lakmali together with Mr. Thushara Bandaranayake created a tree using kids’ hand-prints. Mrs. Indu Malalgoda made this event to educate students about plant-world as well as its variety. Mr. Melro Mendis provided the technical assistance.

Dancing Steps

DANCING STEPSMrs. Nayomi Sithari together with Mrs. Inoka Gunathilaka and Miss Chethani Lakmali taught steps to dance according to the song “චූටී කුරුල්ලනි චූටී බටිත්තනි” originally sung by Ms. Priyanka Weerasekara. Mr. Melro Mendis, Mr. Roshan Fernando and Mr. Manjula Jayatilaka provided the technical assistance.

Sing along with - 1st Session

Sing along with “පොඩි කාලේ දඟ කෙරුවාම” is a good old song loved by children for decades. Mrs. Upeksha Kodithuwakku and Mrs. Ganga Godakanda joined with preschool kids to sing and act “පොඩි කාලේ දඟ කෙරුවාම” on Friday, 8th November, 2013. This song was originally sung by Ms. Shiromi Fernando. Mr. Melro Mendis and Mr. Chamara Herath provided the technical assistance.
